About the Ruth Artman Collection

Ruth Artman

Ruth E. Artman 91, Franklin, formerly of Carmel, passed away on November 26, 2010. A prolific choral and handbell composer with more than 200 works in print, she held a Master’s Degree in Music and an honorary Doctorate of Music from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago. A public school teacher in Ft. Wayne, Carmel and Illinois for many years, she was also a church choral director. Robert Schuller’s “Hour of Power” choir and orchestra performed her music a number of times.

She appeared professionally throughout the US, Canada and Europe and traveled to the Ukraine, Siberia, and Africa on mission trips.Â
